Our body contains a life force- the ancient Hindu Vedas refer to it as Prana, the Chinese call it Chi, the Polynesians Mana... This energy needs to flow through our body, as blood flows through our veins, via energy centers called Chakras or Nadis.

The word Chakra derives from the Sanskrit word meaning spinning wheel. And that is exactly what it is , a wheel that spins at different speeds, resonates with a particular sound and color and governs particular functions essential for our survival. The Chakras cannot be seen per se.. They are a part of your subtle energetic body. Just as you cannot see the wind but can feel its whisper on your cheek, thus when we start to pay attention to our inner planes, we become aware of them, and more tuned into our needs.

From the base to the crown, energy flows through them connecting earth to the heavens. Energy travels both ways. They are a 114 Chakras in total according to ancient texts, and of these 7 are commonly known. When they are blocked our life seems out of sync. The energies stagnate and disease manifests itself.

It is essential to learn about chakras, so that we may address our issues and ailments. Knowing them, also helps us better understand which crystal to choose.

Here we will focus first on the 7 chakras

Blocked energy in our seven chakras can often lead to illness, so it's important to understand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely.

Since each chakras vibrates at a vibrational frequency that matches a colour on the spectrum, it's corresponding crystal will be of the same colour. (Sometimes a chakra has more than one match in terms of crystals - for example the Heart Chakra works well with both pink and green crystals.

Since the internal structure of a crystal is unchanging, it helps to restore the energetic vibrational balance of its corresponding chakra. Meditating with the crystal will also help one open up their intuition and tune into the issues underlying imbalances on a emotional level.

Here's our brief summary on the chakras and their functions.
